As the visitor walks towards the historic Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat, he will pass fragrant pines and cypresses and then encounter a beautiful garden, seemingly a secret place hidden from the touristic clans, far out on this verdant peninsula. Formal gardens are complemented by wild rock gardens, all leading to an unmatched magical sea view.
As the last hotel on this stunning peninsula, this totally unique and privileged position has made the magnificent Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat a landmark on the luxury landscape.
The cool marble floors of the grand hallways are warmed by opulent carpets. Antiques are everywhere. Guest rooms are spacious but graced with every amenity.
Luxury travelers make a special detour to visit the hotel’s restaurant Le Cap, which serves contemporary Provençal cuisine with terrace overlooking the lawn and ocean. Another unique feature at the hotel is the Somerset Maugham piano bar, honoring the writer who was a frequent visitor in the 1930’s. Signed portraits of many other celebrities grace the walls.
The Club Dauphin, a natural rock terrace above the ocean, is reached by a funicular. Guests can loll around an Olympic-size pool. Alternative sunning is available on sunbathing lawns with private cabanas.
Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat
Location: 71 boulevard General de Gaulle, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat; 12 kilometres from Nice airport.Luxury style: The Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat is renowned and in this case, the hype is no hype. It’s a hotel that lives up to its reputation and is a destination all on it’s own. In a blessed land, it is laden with luxe, calme et volupte.
What we’ve heard: If there was ever a hotel that was worth a big splurge. If money is no object, consider a week or more. It’s heaven.
