It’s all about the view at this extraordinary Barcelona hotel…
Towering like a mystical monument to luxury, the 44-story Hotel Arts Barcelona, a Ritz-Carlton property, was built in 1992 for the Olympics. The views of city, sea, sky are the most stunning attributes of this modern landmark. Stylish decor and plenty of contemporary art provide a rich background, accented by the undulating form of giant fish, a commissioned sculpture by Frank Gehry. In addition, this expo hotel are close to meeting venues and the Mediterranean.
The nearly 500 rooms and suites have been recently renovated and feature oversize windows for the spectacular Mediterranean vistas. Here it’s all about the view and the glass and steel construction is a footnote to what engages the gaze outward. But the Ritz-Carlton heritage of the hotel means a plentiful supply of service-providers, valets, maids, concierges. If a guest feels like a day of relaxation, the hotel has a beachfront area, pool, 3 restaurants, room service and bar.
Hotel Arts Barcelona
Location: Carrer de la Marina 19 – 21, Barcelona 08005, Spain; Barajas International Airport is 7 kilometres away.
Luxury style: Expansive contemporary, yet comfortable.
What we’ve heard: Executive floor with the Club Lounge is a perk worth adding. Always strive for a high-floor room for stunning views of the city and harbor. One factor not appealing to all is that the Olympic Park is a trifle off the beaten path, making taxis the preferred mode of getting around. But many find that the truly unique quality of the hotel make it worth the extra travel time.
